The South Danbury Church eagerly invites everyone to join us for a full and festive series of August events. You’ll also see the beautiful results of our historic preservation project, thanks to a LCHIP matching grant from the New Hampshire Land & Community Heritage Program, and the extraordinary generosity of friends near and far.
The church is “on the map” for the Danbury Town-Wide Yard Sale on Saturday, August 4, from 9 to 2 PM. The Antique and Well-Loved Tool Sale (at a different location) will also be on the Town-Wide Yard Sale map. If you’re in the middle of a project or yard work and suddenly discover you lack a particular tool (or tools), we just might have what you need, and the Church Preservation Fund will benefit.
On Sunday, August 19, the South Danbury Church will host Danbury’s Old Home Day celebration from 9:30 to 11:30 AM., continuing a statewide custom that is now over 100 years old. The observance alternates among Danbury’s churches, and next year it will be at the United Church. The program will include the traditional presentation of prizes to the youngest, oldest, largest family and first-timer in attendance, and to the guest who traveled furthest for the occasion. Singer-songwriter Keegan Farr will perform, and there will be a light lunch, with time for conversation, re connecting, and sharing memories afterward.
At 7 PM on Friday, August 24 the 2018-2019 South Danbury Church Speaker
(and Music) Series begins, with a performance by singer/songwriter/storyteller Reggie Harris.
See reggieharrismucic.com for more about him. What a great way to jump-start the Speaker Series after the hiatus!
