It’s time once again for the Festival of Trees at Franklin Opera House, and this year it’s being extended to a second weekend, in conjunction with Footlight Theatre’s production of the holiday classic “Miracle on 34th Street.” Uniquely decorated trees, wreaths, and gift baskets will adorn the Opera House in Frankin’s historic City Hall.
Visitors can enjoy the Festival for free on December 7 from 5-8 PM (following the City Tree Lighting at Marceau Park); December 8 from 10 AM to 5 PM; December 9 from 10 AM to Noon; and December 15 from 10 AM to 5 PM. Purchase 25 raffle tickets for just $5 to win and take home one of the donated items for the holidays. Winners will be able to take home the tree or wreath, PLUS everything on or under it! The raffle drawing will take place after the matinee performance on Sunday, December 16. Included in the raffle will be the tree used in “Miracle on 34th Street”!
Award winning Franklin Footlight Theatre is excited to present “Miracle on 34th Street” for the first time. “This is a tale that we want to believe in, that creates a world we seem to desperately desire, free of the blatant commercialism that surrounds us, where love and decency and generosity of spirit are their own rewards. What we want Christmas to be all about, really.” So writes the Santa Cruz Sentinel of this most heartwarming holiday story.
Show tickets are $14 and $16, with performances December 8, 14, and 15 at 7:30 PM, and two matinee performances December 9 and 16 at 2 PM.
This event is a fundraiser for Franklin Opera House, which is a non-profit corporation, to continue its mission of bringing quality local and regional entertainers to our stage and to provide a place where youth can learn theater skills and enjoy performing on a live stage.
