Most of you probably know by now that I was reelected to the New Hampshire State Legislature. This will be my 3rd two year term as a New Hampshire State Representative after a 2 year hiatus. Once again I’ll be representing the citizens of Merrimack District 25, consisting of Warner, Webster, Andover, Salisbury, and Danbury.
I prevailed against a young and capable opponent in the September 11 Primary election. After the Primary I ran against Republican Representative Natalie Wells, who defeated me in 2016. I don’t share many of Natalie’s priorities but wish to thank her for her service in the Legislature.
I have many loyal supporters to thank for my success in 2018 who worked hard to bring back Democrats to Concord, especially my running mates Clyde Carson and Ken Wells. I was also fortunate to have the help of the Warner Democrats and the Andover Area Democrats. Many other individuals also generously contributed to my campaign, some since 2012.
I’ll be working hard in the Legislature for all my towns. Some of my priorities are getting the State to meet its mandated support for our public schools, guaranteed universal kindergarten, making schools safe places for children and teachers, supporting education for jobs in the trades and high tech careers, and making higher education affordable for New Hampshire citizens. The State should also restore its promised financial support for retired public employees taking the burden off local property tax payers.
Our small towns have special needs I’ll be working on with my running mates. We need more help to fight the opioid epidemic which is exhausting our first responders, we need universal broadband and cell service to attract families and jobs to our towns, we need to extend medicaid expansion and guarantee access to affordable healthcare. We need to make solar energy a reliable option by removing the cap on net metering. Paid family leave is a priority for many families as are equal adequate wages for women and men.
All the residents of my 5 towns are important to me. I want to hear about your concerns and priorities. You can email me at: electdavidkarrick@nullgmail.com, you can phone me at 603-456-2772, or you can phone or text me at 603-496-8376.
I hope everyone had a good Holiday Season with their families and will have a Happy and Healthy 2019.
Thank you.
Representative David Karrick
