Retired Boston Firefighter of Engine 3 and local F.F. Union 718, James J. Carter Jr. 70, passed suddenly on May 18, 2019.
Jimmy, a Vietnam Navy veteran, never liked to put his feet in the ocean, and was a U.S.S.A. ski jumping team judge who never jumped. He had the best sense of humor, and his antics were renowned amongst his friends and family for him being able to “dish it out” but “never take it.”
Jimmy’s unique outlook on life led him to live it to the fullest, never caring what anyone else thought of him, and he was quick to remind you of it. He’d often do so with a cigarette in one hand and a hot fudge sundae in the other with either his Harley or “Big Red” very close by.
James leaves behind a lasting memory. He has impacted all of us who have had the pleasure of knowing him, and his legacy will continue.
As such, his beloved wife Theresa A. Carter, children and their families consisting of Tricia & Dwayne Sheehan of Salem Ma, Jason Leslie of Brunswick, Ga, Joshua & Stephanie Carter of Loudon N.H. and Jeremy Carter of E. Andover N.H. will ensure to keep his memory alive; forever reminding his grandchildren Carter, Savannah, Xander and Joseph to “Always watch out for the crazy people” with a wink quickly to follow.
Jim also leaves behind seven siblings and their immediate families, Michael, Paul, Richard, Steven, Theresa, Joanne, and Timothy, who’s bond he never forgot.
We know he walks through the paradise he deserves with an arm around his loving son James J. Carter III, leaving behind memories of laughter, generosity, compassion, and wisdom, and we are all better for it.
May he rest in peace.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Department of Veterans Affairs, Manchester Medical Center, 718 Smyth Road, Manchester, NH 03104.
