Of course libraries like to consider themselves essential services, but we also want to be sure that everyone is safe. The librarians in us would like to get books in the hands of people as soon as possible, but the “I stand with science” part of us knows that New Hampshire has not met the standards for reopening that are recommended by experts.

We hope that we err on the side of caution and reopen gradually and safely, first with curbside service and inter-library loan service, then eventually allowing a few patrons to come in at a time, and eventually returning to being fully open. We are closely watching the State Library and their recommended steps for reopening. Of course, the big question is: when do we take that first step?  We will let you know details as soon as we know them.

In the meantime we are still ordering books, DVDs, and books on CD.  Please let us know if there are things that you would like us to order.

We are using this time to go through our databases and bring our records up to date. Please don’t be alarmed if you discover that we have deleted you from the database, (as recommended by the State Library for patrons who haven’t checked out materials in the last five years). We can easily issue you a new card via e-mail or the next time you come to the library.
