Dolores Irene LaClair (Merchant), of Salisbury, died peacefully at her home in Salisbury, on Sunday January 17, 2021 at 89 years of age.
She lived and raised her family in Boscawen for the majority of her life. Born to Amos and Della Merchant, of Boscawen, on November 3, 1931 at Concord Hospital. She graduated from Penacook High School in 1950. After graduation she acquired a job at Beede Electric and worked there until approximately 1967.
After Beede, she started working at The Giant Store in Penacook, until its closure in the early 70’s. Her last employment was at Steenbeke and Sons in Boscawen, where she was fondly called “Dodo” by most that worked there. She stayed until her retirement in 1994.
Dolores enjoyed dancing, family gatherings and going out to dinner with her Husband and friends. She was very fond of seafood! She enjoyed volunteering at the soup kitchen and food pantry, as well as playing bingo and cards. Dodo was an avid reader, she loved her Danielle Steele books!
She loved the ocean dearly, which included spending time at the beach (she loved Lafayette in Wells, Maine) with friends, her two daughters, husband and later in life her granddaughter.
She was a very loving, caring and free-spirited person. She was a member of The Immaculate Conception Parish in Penacook.
She was voted “Happy go Lucky’ during her Senior year in High School. She lived a long and happy life, and was loved by all that knew her.
Dolores is survived by her husband of 68 years Robert LaClair; her children: Jay LaClair of Lee, Jan Gilligan of Concord, Robert LaClair of Andover, Mark LaClair of Northfield, Julie Cross of Salisbury; her two grandsons Brent and Matt LaClair, and one granddaughter Danielle Cross. Many nieces and nephews throughout New Hampshire.
Services will take place in the Immaculate Conception Parish in Penacook on Wednesday, February 3, at 11 AM.
