On April 20, the Andover Service Club (ASC) presented a production of Fred Marple of Frost Heaves, New Hampshire at AE/MS. This was a benefit for the ASC Scholarship Fund. Fred, played by humorist Ken Sheldon, performed skits with volunteers Lorraine Roberts, Mary Demers, Evelyn Davis, Joyce Egge, Marcus Johnson, Robert Ofenloch, and ASC President Mary Ofenloch.
With a number of short monologues on the history and residents of “Frost Heaves,” he interspersed his original songs, such as Chicken in the Bathroom and his demonstration of Yoga for Yankees. The volunteer actors performed Fred’s “commercials” for Kitty-Kat Personal Heaters, Yankee GPS, MomCare, and Elmer Sings Simon and Garfunkel. Three door prizes of Ken Sheldon’s CDs and DVDs were awarded. He closed the show with a sing-a-long of God Bless America in response to the tragedy at the Boston Marathon.
Everyone had a great time.
