Dear Parents, Colleagues, Friends, and Andover Community,
After 22 years of teaching Middle School Science, First Grade, Third Grade, and Technology (K-8) at AE/MS, my time here is coming to a close. As the saying goes, when one door closes, another one opens. I will be moving on to a new career as a Principal in a K-5 Elementary School for another small New Hampshire community.
After battling cancer three years ago, I realized my time spent in the classroom was coming to an end. I became the K-8 Technology teacher and was awakened to the whole school connection I had created over the years. This experience gave me a new perspective in education and how I could have a greater impact on students. I began searching for the right place to begin my career as a principal. Out of the blue this year, I found that place.
Andover students, parents, colleagues, and the Andover community have my deepest gratitude. As I enter the toughest week of my career here, I hope that I am leaving behind a legacy of dedication, kindness, and helpfulness.
Over the 22 years of service to the school and greater Andover community, I feel like I have been a beacon for all students. Students have witnessed me teaching, washing floors, building bird houses, holding Earth Day t-shirt contests, delivering lunches, attending softball and baseball games, and so much more.
I am truly lucky to be departing AE/MS filled with love and deep gratitude for the only place I have ever taught. I know I will be leaving the students in good hands with colleagues who care and connect with each of them.
I want to say “Thank you!” to everyone in the AE/MS community for time well spent and for the cherished memories and friends I will always keep with me.
Work hard and be nice,
Michael Wiley
