With culture shifting, are you home more? Have you recently moved to town, changed careers, or have your children grown and gone? Do you want a new challenge or just a great connection to the local people? Have you ever wanted to help your neighbors when they are in need?  Now may be a good time to consider joining your local fire or EMS department.

In Andover, both the Fire Department and EMS are completely volunteer. When you see the red lights on the side of the road or at a residence, the personnel you see are dedicated, local people trying to keep everyone safe.

Since everyone has a family, job, etc., it  is difficult to respond to every call. However, with a larger membership the odds are that we will have a greater turnout at each call.

Currently, the rosters in our town are lower than they have been in the past. Some people have moved away, or family dynamics have changed. Other first responders have retired after many years of dedicated service.

We are looking for people at least 18 years of age and older who have an interest in serving. Contact us and say hi. Any member can answer questions about what we do.

Due to the limited number of certified EMS providers, the City of Franklin has a contract with the Town of Andover to provide EMS transporting, but there are some times when multiple ambulances are needed, multiple persons are needed for lift assists, or other incidents occur that Andover EMS can handle. Responding to calls allows EMTs to use their skills and help to make providers proficient in their jobs.

The Department will pay for EMT classes and firefighter training once new members show they are really interested. Volunteering and helping neighbors is very rewarding. The amount you can learn, even being a new member, is huge. No two calls are the same, even if they are similar in how they are reported.

The Town of Andover has a great group of firefighters and EMTs who help protect the public when the call arises. Come join our team and learn why this is a great volunteer job!

The monthly business meeting is the first Monday of the month, and every Monday there is some sort of training or truck check. Stop in if the lights are on and inquire.

Also, you can call the Town Office at 735-5332 to get in contact with the Fire or EMS Chief for more information. I also want to thank every present and past member of the Department for their dedication and willingness to help out others in the time of need.

Come join a great team, and give back to the community!
