Shawn Upton has joined the Andover Conservation Commission (ACC), filling the last remaining seat (of seven) on the Commission. Shawn is an active fisherman and hunter and brings that perspective to ACC.

Copies of Merrimack County Local Food Guide 2021 are available for free at the Andover Public Library and the Bachelder Library. The Guide is a resource that has a list of farmer’s markets
and so much more. It is a great resource promoting local farms.

iNaturalist is an online tool that allows you to record observations on any wild organism at a particular time and location and is often used as a way to collect data during a BioBlitz . New Hampshire Cooperative Extension supported BioBlitz for the month of September. iNaturalist is a free mobile app from iNaturalist.org. Once you have logged into iNaturalist, you can join the New Hampshire BioBlitz Project.

ACC is in the process of creating work groups, which will allow members to fully expand our focus. New Hampshire RSA 36 authorized the Town of Andover to establish the ACC “for the proper utilization and protection of the natural resources and for the protection of watershed resources of Andover.” The Conservation Commission is the only local body specifically charged with protecting natural resources; it provides a focal point within municipal government for environmental concerns.
