Jeannette Rita (Gauthier) Walters, 87, of Amherst, New Hampshire, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 7.
She was born in Goffstown on May 23, 1934 to Romeo and Alda (Houle) Gauthier.
Jeannette spent many years working at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Manchester caring for veterans. She loved spending time at The Palace Theater in Manchester, both on stage and ushering for many shows. She volunteered at the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport as a New Hampshire Ambassador and at St. John Neumann Catholic Parish’ Day Away Program.
A lifelong resident of New Hampshire, Jeannette loved to travel. Having spent time in New York City, Florida, California, Puerto Rico, Ireland, and many other destinations, her favorite was being at home with family, friends, and food for all.
Jeannette is predeceased by her husband Robert Walters; her brothers Raymond and Eugene Gauthier; and her sister Cecile (Gauthier) Dubisz.
She is survived by her four children: Jacqueline and son-in-law Scott Bachman of Bedford; Denise Biddle of Nashua; Richard Vallee of Nashua; James and daughter-in-law Carol Tuerk of Andover; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life was held at Lambert Funeral Home and Crematory on September 11, with a brief memorial service following in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at a later date.
