The Ausbon Sargent Land Preservation Trust and the UNH Cooperative Extension are offering Woods Forums for landowners of significant acreage (25 acres or more). Landowners are invited to gather to discuss topics of common interest such as: how to pass your land on to future generations, keep your woods healthy, protect the special places on your property, share your love of the land with your (grand)children, or how to attract wildlife to your property.
The first of the five forums was held on March 21 at the home of Kim Lowe and George Beaton in Bradford, where they hosted 17 participants. Alice Chamberlain and Steve Brown of Warner hosted the second forum on April 11, which was attended by 24 landowners. The participants of each included landowners interested in learning more about how they can care for and conserve their woods and fields, those who already care for their land through wildlife habitat management and timber harvesting, and those who have placed conservation easements on their property.
Beth McGuinn, Land Protection Specialist with Ausbon Sargent, and Tim Fleury, the UNH Cooperative Extension Forestry Educator for Merrimack County, will join landowners at the final three Woods Forums. Regarding the first two forums, Beth said, “Participants enjoyed visiting with other landowners, sharing stories about their land, and posing questions of other landowners, Tim or me.”
The three upcoming Woods Forums will be held in the months of July and August. More information can be found regarding these events on AusbonSargent.org or by calling the Ausbon Sargent office at 526-6555.
Woods Forums are offered with a grant from the Northeast State Foresters Association.
