Deborah Aylward announced that on June 9 she filed with the Danbury Town Clerk as a Republican candidate for one of the two New Hampshire House of Representatives seats serving Merrimack County District 5 (Andover, Danbury, Hill, Salisbury, and Webster).  Aylward is a native of Washington DC and a New Hampshire resident since 2006.

Having met Aylward at the Salisbury Old Home Day last year, Scott Maltzie (Chairman of the Republican National Committee for Merrimack County) invited Aylward to run. Having the time and interest, she enthusiastically responded in the affirmative.

A retired private investigator/detective agency owner and nationally-recognized industry leader, Aylward was legislatively active on behalf of the private security community for 20 years and championed two bills that were passed into law in Virginia. Believing well-crafted proposals can solve problems or provide opportunities for citizens and the private sector, Aylward is strongly opposed to measures that create unintended consequences, such as interference with fundamental rights to life, liberty, and happiness, and especially when inviting litigation in the aftermath of passage. 

Describing herself as “conservative,” Aylward is opposed to income and/or sales taxes being imposed upon residents in the Granite State and is a proponent of the Second Amendment.

In Danbury, an economically-challenged town, Aylward undertook the task of educating and increasing awareness about unnecessary spending and the need for greater transparency, integrity, and accountability from local government. “If elected, and the opportunity were to arise, I’m keenly interested in, and feel I would be the most effective, by serving on the Municipal and County Government Committee,” said Aylward.

Planning on attending Andover’s annual Fourth of July celebration, Aylward can be located at the Republican Party booth. “I very much look forward to meeting community members and learning about issues that matter to them.”
