My name is David Nesbitt, and I am running to represent the Merrimack 26th floterial district.
I am a New Hampshire native, brought up in a military family and thus experienced life in different parts of America and Western Europe. As a result, I approach problems with a broader perspective. I earned my college degree from the University of New Hampshire system and worked in two careers: 20 years in outdoor recreation and 18 years as a public school history teacher.
When I retired in June of 2020, I did not anticipate running for elective office! I had dreams of traveling with my wife Chris, gardening, reading for pleasure, and maybe fulfilling a long-held desire to bicycle across the country. Recent events changed my mind. I had two choices: I could get frustrated watching the nightly news, or I could get more involved and make a difference.
I support our public education system and will work for stronger state financial support for it. I believe in a woman’s right to choose; I also believe urgent environmental action must address the immediate threat posed by climate change and its very real impact on our lives. Finally, civil and voting rights must be protected.
I am deeply concerned with the world my former students and my own granddaughter will inherit. I feel compelled to act and will devote my energy to work within the legislative body to ensure a safe and just New Hampshire. I hope you will support me in this effort.
