A six-week series of social dance classes offering participants an opportunity to learn and perfect their “swing” techniques will begin at the Andover Community Hub on Friday, February 24, from 7 to 8 PM, and continue each Friday through March 31. Classes are offered on a drop-in, pay-when-you-attend basis with a fee of $10 per person per class.  Newcomers are welcome at any class; singles are also welcome.

The series will be taught by Laura Kiefer and Gary Stanhope of Hidden Door Dance Studio in Elkins.  They’ve both participated as “pros” in, and choreographed dances for, “Dancing with the Stars” in both Newport and Sunapee.

This series of classes will focus on the style known as East Coast Swing – or Triple Step Swing – a fun dance for a variety of music styles from “oldies” to country to pop.  The series will begin with easier dance moves and progress to intermediate level moves if time allows.  Dancers at all levels are welcome; as the instructors say, “The only things you need to bring are both left feet and clean shoes with smooth soles!”
