Terence David Lynch, passed away at 81 on January 23, 2023 after a long illness. He was in Pasadena, surrounded by his loved ones when he quietly said goodbye.

Born March 7, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan, Terry was the eldest of five children born to Gerald and Mary Romaine Lynch. He counted many communities his home growing up including Detroit, Washington DC, and then Los Angeles, mostly in Pacific Palisades, where he raised his family. He attended Loyola High School and studied economics at the University of Southern California where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and the golf team before beginning his career in financial services.

After graduating USC in 1964, he joined White Weld and Co, subsequently merging into Merrill Lynch, beginning his career in investment management. He then joined Hambrecht and Quist in 1982 before moving to Trust Company of the West. 

In 1995, he left to help start WestCap Investors, an independent investment management firm based in Los Angeles. After several years, Terry joined Credit Suisse Securities which merged many of its top US brokerage teams with Wells Fargo in 2015. Terry had a well-deserved reputation as one of the top investment advisors in Los Angeles.

It was in 1970 that Terry met the love of his life, Constance York, in New York City where they were married on March 4, 1971. Terry and Connie built a beautiful life together with their three daughters. His family was the world to him. Terry was passionate about many things including golf, travel, sailing, cycling and wine. He lived life to the fullest and had the most beautiful twinkle in his eye. He and his wife Connie traveled often over the years with family and friends. Terry loved his numerous golf trips to Scotland and Ireland with friends and his brother. He was also active in the Confrérie des Chevaliers, the fraternity of Knights of the Wine-Tasters and for many years the Society of the Friendly Sons of St Patrick.

Terry was very community minded, having served on the board of trustees for St. Matthew’s Parish School in Pacific Palisades, California, Don Bosco Technical Institute, an all-boys, private, Catholic high school in Rosemead, California, as well as Proctor Academy, a coed, independent preparatory boarding school in Andover, New Hampshire. In addition, he was very involved with the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, a non-profit zoo and desert botanical garden located in Palm Desert.

Lynch is survived by his wife, Constance, and his three daughters, Erin Sweeney (Stender) of Pasadena, Courtney Koenig (Gary) of Boston and Catherine Adams (Casey) of Pasadena, and their nine grandchildren, Margaret, Caroline, Tucker, Andrew, Henry, Eloise, Charlotte, Daphne and Georgia. He is survived by three siblings, Rosemary Lynch Mitchell, Gerald John Lynch, Jr. and Julie Lynch Russell and is predeceased by Laura Lee Foley.
