Earth Day is celebrated on April 22 each year as an encouragement to all citizens to get involved in protecting our shared home planet. The Andover Community Hub and the Andover Conservation Commission are again encouraging residents to lend a hand with the annual Roadside Cleanup as a way of making a difference here in town.
Beginning on Wednesday, April 19, a supply of blue plastic trash bags will be available at The Hub, the Andover and East Andover post offices, and the Bachelder Library in East Andover, although residents may want to concentrate their pick-up efforts on the weekend of April 21 – 23. Residents are asked to take their filled bags to the Transfer Station during normal hours, separating any recovered aluminum cans and glass bottles, if possible, to be recycled.
Residents who stop at The Hub on Saturday, April 22, between 9 AM and 3 PM, can choose a free seedling or two as a thank-you for their cleanup efforts, and to encourage them to consider growing some of their own food as well as planting a pollinator-friendly yard.
More details about local Earth Day efforts are still developing and will be shared through the Hub’s Facebook page, website, and email. Anyone wishing to be added to The Hub’s ongoing email list for updated information can contact TheAndoverHub@nullgmail.com and request it.
