Andover Service Club Invites Women to Spring Speaker Series

No charge; open to members or non-members

Press release

The Andover Service Club for Women (ASC) commences its Spring Speaker Series this month, and invites women to attend free of charge. The events are open to both club members and non-members. Both events will be held at the Highland Lake Grange Hall, on the corner of Route 11 and Chase Hill Road, East Andover. Take this opportunity to be delighted by two dynamic speakers, both with a story to tell.

On Wednesday, April 12, at 10 AM, the ASC welcomes Mary Kuechenmeister, founder and Executive Director of the Story Preservation Initiative (SPI). Mary credits her “irrepressible interest in people’s life stories” as the catalyst for the development of SPI, a 501(c)(3) public charity, which audio records oral histories of high achievement individuals for use as an educational resource. Recordings include the histories of those in varied fields, including the arts, sciences, and humanities. SPI collections are archived in the Library of Congress, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, as well as libraries throughout the country. In addition, SPI created a Learning Lab project for use in the classroom. Join us for a fascinating recount of some of Mary’s audio recordings, and learn more about the Story Preservation Initiative’s work in your community.

On Wednesday, May 10 at 10 AM, the ASC welcomes New Hampshire storyteller, author, and comedian Rebecca Rule for what will no doubt be a light hearted, fun-filled presentation. Rebecca has written several books including That Reminds Me of a Funny Story, and the ASC’s favorite, Live Free and Eat Pie. A native of New Hampshire, Rebecca regales audiences with her stories of visits throughout the state, sharing the unique and highly entertaining qualities of the people of New Hampshire.
