We are saddened to announce the loss of our father, Daniel L. Ross. “Danny” passed peacefully at his home of 55 years in Granby, Connecticut, a wish he had all his life. He was born July 4, 1934 in Hartford, son of the late Louis and Kathleen (Lucy) Ross. For most of their lives together, Peggy and Danny shared a vacation cottage on Highland Lake in New Hampshire where they fished for white perch in the summers and snowmobiled in the winters. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the United States Navy. Mr. Ross was a manufacturers’ Sales Executive for Malcolm Black Associates for many years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Simsbury RC Airplane Club, teaching many new pilots the thrill of RC flight. He was an original member of the Simsbury Fife and Bugle Company, and grew up in the Simsbury Pine Hill Neighborhood where he would play reveille for the whole neighborhood to hear. He was fascinated by flight and was an avid bird watcher. Let it be said that Peggy and Danny changed the migratory pattern of birds in Connecticut with their wonderful feeding stations, “Studio 54”.
His home, along with his two sons, Scott and Timothy were his pride and joy. Along with his long-term partner, the late Margaret Wallace and her daughter Kathleen Wallace Wee, Danny created a loving and creative family to grow and foster in. His love of the outdoors and nature surpassed any formal education on life’s lessons to be taught. His love and support of anything we did will always be cherished, no matter how much we challenged him along the way. He was our greatest teacher, even though he may have never known that.
Danny leaves his sons, Scott Ross of Danbury, and Timothy Ross of Andover; Peggy’s daughter, Kathleen Wallace Wee and her husband Robert Chuan Wee and their beloved Natasha of Millersville, Pennsylvania; his nieces and nephew, Karen Coolong Wilson, Brian Wilson, Kelly Wilson and Julie Wilson; his cousins, Linda Garro, Carol Rotondo, Christina Ross Cowderay, Sally Ross Uthaff, Petel Ross, David Ross and Thomas Ross and many dear and close friends. He was predeceased by his partner of 45 years, Peggy, three weeks ago; his former wife Beverly (Micha) Ross and his sisters, Noreen Dagata and Rita Wilson.
Calling hours were held on May 18, at the Vincent Funeral Home in Simsbury.
