Wilmot Farmers Market Offers Fresh Food; Friendly Shopping

Season opens Saturday, June 17; 9 to noon

Press release

It’s almost farmers market time in Wilmot. Our rural area of local farms, artisans, and community members continues to build a decades-long Wilmot Farmers Market family that gathers on the Wilmot Town Green every Saturday from 9 AM to noon. This season, the market starts a week earlier on June 17 and continues through all of September. This season’s vendors will bring locally made, grown, and produced foods and crafts from Alexandria, Andover, Danbury, Franklin, Grafton, Laconia, New London, Newport, Salisbury, and Wilmot.

Several local groups have signed up for our education tent;  however, we still have several weeks open. The education tent is a free weekly market space set aside for nonprofits and organizations to promote their activities and/or provide a service to market goers. To sign up your group, email donnaardena@nullgmail.com.

Vendor homesteads are busy putting the finishing touches on inventory. Gardeners are fighting the black flies to plant seeds, and farmers are fencing livestock pastures. Baby chicks have arrived, and laying hens scratch in the dirt while their bodies make eggs.  Potential vendors are making their final market decisions. Many new part-time vendors allow the opportunity for fill-in vendor spots. For market information and applications, check out wilmotfarmersmarket.com.

Neighbors are anxious for opening day to arrive. The winter has been long, but it’s almost time to catch up with your neighbors on the Town Green, 9 Kearsarge Valley Rd in Wilmot Flat.  Join us there as we all support local agriculture, one bite at a time, as well as nourish our bodies at the same time as we nourish our local economy.
