By the time The Beacon goes to print, groundbreaking at Andover’s new highway department facility will have taken place. This is a key milestone in a project the Town has discussed for years.
The construction project was awarded to Construx, Inc., of Plymouth, for a contract price of $1,140,700. Selectman Dana Swenson is working with the Construx team as the primary point of contact for the Town. Les Fenton was hired by the Select Board to act as Clerk of the Works.
The project is fully funded, with $650,000 approved and appropriated at the 2022 Town Meeting and an additional $875,000 voted in at the 2023 Town Meeting. When the project is complete, the Select Board anticipates having unused funds, which can later be applied to taxes or future warrant articles.
