Each year, US News and World Report releases its list of best schools in each state. The reports are broken up by age groupings (preschool, elementary, middle school, and high school), and schools are judged on a number of factors including state test scores.
The report was released in November, and the middle school staff and students at AE/MS definitely have reasons to celebrate. Andover ranked #47 out of 270 middle schools (public, private, and charter) in the state of New Hampshire. That ranking places them safely within the top 20% of middle schools in the state.
According to the same report, Andover Middle School students ranked #12 in the state for reading proficiency based on state testing completed in the Spring of 2023. This ranking was labeled as “well above expectations” for students at this grade level.
The elementary school also ranked well at 117th out of 439 schools in the state, putting them ahead of 74% of the state’s elementary schools.
With all of the talk in the news about learning loss during the 2020 and 2021 school years, it looks like Andover is one of the exceptions in the state.
