Once again Andover and friends reaffirmed its commitment to the Fourth of July Celebration with their generous donations. We don’t have all the figures in as yet, but the preliminary count looks good. We have had some substantial donations from folks that have second homes in Andover, and also from our appeal in The Andover Beacon.
Our thanks to the Beacon team for the patriotic design of our donor tickets and also for our program design. We also thank our canvassers who go door to door each year as a little reminder that the Fourth is coming.
Donations are what have kept this celebration viable for the last 71 years, and we thank all who have helped to keep this Andover tradition. If you wish to see where the money goes just check your Town Report.
Donations are not our only fundraiser. We have a beautiful red, white, and blue quilt made by Rose Tilton, and quilted by Linda Barnes of The Constant Quilter that we are raffling off. Ticket are available now and through the Fourth. Call Rose at 735-6446 if you would like some or are willing to sell a few. We will have a table on the green and the quilt on display. It would be a wonderful addition to any home or a great gift.
Another source of income is the ads in our program. Unfortunately, by the time this issue is out it will be too late, but there is always next year.
Last year The Boy Scouts conducted a collection on the green for the committee, which was very successful; It provided an opportunity for out-of-town people to contribute.
We are still accepting donations through the Fourth. The end of May was the deadline to get your name in the program and for ads. Call Wanda (735-5434) or Irene (745-5271). They would be delighted to hear from you. They love those money calls!
