Howard D. George, 88, of Bridge Road, Andover, died Thursday, March 7, 2024, at the White River Junction VA Hospital. He was born in New London on September 22, 1935, the son of William and Grace (Whitaker) George. He was a lifelong resident of Andover.
Howard served in the U.S. Army Paratrooper Rangers from 1954-1957. He was employed by Palazzi and Perini Construction and later worked for Proctor Academy and the U.S. Post Office. He was a ski instructor for Ragged Mountain and was owner and operator of Blackwater Ski Shop in Andover for many years.
Members of his family surviving include his wife of 65 years, Eleanor (Smith) George of Andover; a son and his wife, Garry and Lynn George; and a daughter, Sally George, all of Andover. Howard is also survived by four grandchildren: Jeffrey (Melissa) Connor and their son, Jack; Jennifer Lee and her two children, Christyna and Lyndsey; Cory George and his two children, Novalynn and Azalea, and their mother, Chantelle Harris; and Jessica (Kenny) Hodge and her children, Kalvin and Karmelo.
A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
