The month of May brought the Town of Andover’s Highway Garage project to contractual completion with primary contractor Construx. Final paving and parking lot striping, along with hydroseeding of grass areas, gives the property a final appearance of which the Town can be proud.
The interior has been detailed and the fit and finish is being undertaken by the crew: obtaining desks, tables and chairs, and personnel lockers, etc. The interior of the shop still needs the two-post lift installed but otherwise is complete and usable for washing, vehicle repairs, maintenance, and secure storage. And for the first time ever, the highway crew now has indoor plumbing, which they greatly appreciate!
There are plans to have an Open House to showcase the facility for the Town’s taxpayers on Saturday, June 29, from 9 AM to 1 PM. There will also be a “Touch the Truck” opportunity for youngsters to explore some of the equipment that the Town owns. Light refreshments will be served.
We finished ahead of schedule and under budget. The money being returned to the General Fund should offset the operating expenses of this facility for the next 10 years. As this is my last posting on this topic, I wish to express my gratitude to the taxpayers for their support and patience, and I hope we have been adequately transparent and forthcoming during the process.
