As we start to lean into the warmer weather and the promise of sunshine, Lake Sunapee Region businesses and organizations are fluttering with plans for future events, additions of staff and hours to accommodate our upcoming summer travelers, and palatable energy and excitement. We love that this is where we get to live, work, and play year-round, but when the summer rolls in we see an influx of guests that get to sample what we get to experience all year.
They stay at our hotels, bed and breakfasts, short-term rentals or they have summer homes that many families have owned for generations. We see the “Barnies” of the New London Barn Playhouse taking over New London; we see college students return to their homes; we see summer camps taking all ages of kids out to all the amazing assets of our region — it’s such a vibrant time of year.
There are so many events and happenings during the months of summer in our region. These events are put together by the people in our communities who absolutely love to share the message of who we are and what we love. It takes so much vision, energy, and commitment to make these events a reality.
If you are one of those connecting all the people and parts to make things happen, thank you! It takes hours of work, collaboration, and vision to bring our region to life through these community-wide events.
Chambers of Commerce are convenors — we are catalysts for connections. Whether it’s potential customers with businesses, organizations with potential funders, businesses with resources to help them achieve their goals, residents with information to share with friends and family or with travelers, sharing all the reasons and places they should explore our area — we love spreading positivity.
Chambers are spread out around the Granite State not only as a resource for member businesses but also to help promote local tourism and happenings in our communities. Chamber directors are “doers.” You will see us serving on boards, helping with events, planning large fundraisers or celebrations, marketing for our members and for our region, and so much more.
If we see a need in our community we do all we can to tackle it. We bring all the needed people to the table to solve an issue. The Chambers of today are not the same as they have been. We are needed now in a different capacity.
Networking is certainly at the top of our priority list but members can make some of those things happen on their own now. We needed to pivot to serve our members and our communities in a multitude of ways. Not only do we offer networking opportunities but we also connect our members with local, regional, and statewide resources, we offer marketing assistance and promotion, we assist with collaboration on major community events, and bend in whatever way needed of our membership, boards, and regions.
Connecting with our greater community through print, TV, radio, and social media is incredibly important, not only to share the message of the Lake Sunapee Region Chamber of Commerce but also to share the messages of our members. Working with our local papers we are able to let the public know about what might be coming up that they can engage in, ask questions about, or learn more about.
