“Kearsarge Neighborhood Partners (KNP) is a non-profit dedicated to building a community
where neighbors help each other flourish. We collaborate with over 40 community partners
serving ten towns in the Kearsarge region, matching the needs of neighbors with committed
volunteers who can help in short-term or longer-term situations.”

Eight thousand vegetable seedlings moved from their home at Spring Ledge Farm to gardens,
food pantries and community gardens around the region on the Tray it Forward Distribution Day,
May 29. Sponsored by five area organizations, the Tray it Forward vegetable seedling program helps folks learn to garden and to produce some of their own fresh food all summer. Thanks to Greg Berger and his incredible staff at Spring Ledge Farm, 400 seedling trays found garden homes in 12 area towns. 

Many thanks to the 40 KNP volunteers who made phone calls, transplanted seedlings, bagged compost, and participated in Distribution Day! It truly takes a village, and ours will be happier and healthier this summer thanks to the organizations that made this community effort possible. Because of their hard work, four food pantries gave plant trays to their clients, community gardens will grow fresh vegetables, and lots of individual homes will be producing their own healthful food this summer.

KNP and Kearsarge Climate Action partnered last fall on a WindowDressers community build to
provide 209 low-cost insulated custom storm window inserts, keeping 29 area homes warmer,
saving heating costs, and lowering CO2 emissions. This year the goal is to build 250 inserts,
almost half of which are already reserved by hopeful customers! WindowDressers matches the 10 towns served by KNP. 

You can volunteer to measure windows this summer and/or serve as shift supervisors and workers for four-hour stints throughout the build week, which will occur at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, date TBD.
