Andover – Keeping one’s cool is increasingly important as New Hampshire is expected to face more extreme-heat days during the summer as the climate grows warmer. When outside temperatures rise into the 90’s and above, it’s vital that people of all ages pay attention to taking it easy and keeping cool and hydrated.
Andover is fortunate to have several community buildings with cooling systems and the ability to welcome residents to stop in and spend some time cooling down if being at home may be too hot for comfort or health.
Andover’s Town Hall (603-735-5332) is generally open 9 AM to 4 PM and is air-cooled throughout, including new A/C in the lower-level meeting room. The Andover Library (603 735-5333) and the Wm. A. Bachelder Library in East Andover (603 735-5076) both have cool sitting areas (and lots of books to read!) and their website lists open hours (www.andovernhlibraries.org/). The Andover Community Hub (603-735-5509) maintains a calendar of activities on its website (www.andoverhub.org/calendar) that indicates when its comfortably-cooled building with flexible space is open and glad for drop-in visitors.
Each of these community buildings can provide comfortable seating, tables, water and the internet to residents who would like a place to spend some time reading, knitting, working on a project or checking their email while staying cool during extremely hot summer days.
