Hub Offers “Baking with Abby” Baking Class Series for Kids

Sunday, October 20, 1 to 3 PM

Press release

ANDOVER  — The first in a series of baking classes for kids will take place on Sunday, October 20, from 1 to 3 PM, at The Andover Community Hub, and then continue on the third Sunday of each month through March 2025. The Hub Program Committee is pleased to offer this series, called “Baking with Abby,” which will be taught by Andover resident and Merrimack Valley High School Senior Abby James Bentzler, who is offering these classes as her senior project at school.

Kids ages eight and up, as well as teens, are welcome to join Abby in baking some sweet treats to enjoy and take home to their families. Abby hopes participants will learn some baking skills, get a taste of the adventure of baking, and have fun in the process.

The first class will feature muffins, and later sessions will focus on pies, holiday cookies, cupcakes, fudge, and cake, one dessert type each month.  A fee of $5 per student for each class will cover the cost of ingredients, supplies, and an apron for each participant.

Abby requests that students register for the series no later than a week before the first class or, for individual classes, by a week before each class, since space is limited and she will need to shop for ingredients. She can be reached at abbygjb@nullgmail.com and welcomes any questions as well.

Abby will be assisted by several adult volunteers, and the class will use The Hub’s new kitchen to bake their sweet treats. The Hub is located at 157 Main Street, Andover, and is an accessible building.
