The highlight of the October 3 Kick Off meeting for the Friends of the Andover Libraries was an informative presentation from our Library Director, Michaela Hoover. Michaela’s enthusiasm and creativity were evident as she spoke about the current and upcoming programs planned for different age groups. It became clear how the Friends could enhance the libraries through both financial support and providing the helping hands of volunteers.
The new Friends group is planning an informal circle meeting on Tuesday, November 12, at 6:30 PM, at the Bachelder Library, to brainstorm about activities, events, and fundraising for the coming year. Please join us so you can share your ideas and input, and we can learn more of how you would like to be involved.
Our volunteers help organize book sales, and assist with planned programs and special events at the library. We envision short-term project/task groups as a way to accommodate various time and commitment levels. Volunteering is a great way to make new friends, get involved with our community, and be around good books.
Even if you are unable at this time to commit to a volunteer role, you are welcome to join. The individual membership contribution of $10/year, or additional gifts, will play an important part in supporting library programs, co-sponsoring community /author events, providing children’s project supplies and program refreshments, and addressing the Library Director’s “wish list.”
The Friends of Andover Libraries is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable association. For more information or to obtain a membership flyer, please email us at libraryfriendsgroupandover@nullgmail.org. We will be in touch! And do join us on November 12 for
further conversation about how we as Friends can empower our dynamic smalltown libraries.
