Annually, the Andover Lions Club recognizes two sixth grade students for good character and citizenship. This is not always an easy task, as there are many good citizens in the sixth grade, in the school, and in Andover. However, when all was tallied, there were two names that appeared consistently and most often – Matthew Bent and Jared Frost.
Matt and Jared are helpful 100% of the time. They are always willing to hold open a door or give assistance to a classmate or teacher. They are always appreciative and complimentary to the cooks at lunch. The two boys can often still be found helping after the school day has ended. They are both kind to classmates and make others feel welcome and included.
Matt and Jared are student leaders who work to make AE/MS the best it can be. They show good sportsmanship on the ball field and on the basketball court.
Matt and Jared are Boy Scouts in our community.
It was for all these reasons and many more that they were awarded the 2013 Citizenship trophy at Eighth Grade Graduation by Andover Lions Club Representative Bill Leber.
