William Thomas Maxfield Jr., of Sacramento, California, died October 3, 2012 after a long period of failing health. He was born on August 26, 1942, the son of the late William Thomas Maxfield and the late Virginia (Arthur) Maxfield.

He held a degree in mathematics from Sacramento State University. Prior to his retirement in January 2007, he was a Research Program Specialist for the State of California Department of Health Services.

Among surviving family members is his sister, Marjorie Leber of Andover.
