Press release

Arts - Flying Monkey - Christmas in Cape BretonAt 7:30 PM on Thursday, December 5, Grammy winner Natalie MacMaster will return to the Flying Monkey. Natalie is known as one of the premiere fiddle players in the world, and her holiday show is praised for its fusion of Cape Breton and Celtic music, along with high-energy step dancing. Tickets for this concert start at $45.

The lively and spirited nature of Celtic music makes it the perfect soundtrack to a holiday event. The concert, titled Christmas in Cape Breton, will feature the celebrated Cape Breton fiddler taking a musical sleigh ride through Nova Scotia in this spirited holiday performance with traditional Celtic jigs, reels, strathspeys, and waltzes. Her delightful holiday show also features Christmas carols, traditional and contemporary Celtic melodies, as well as her own signature hits, which she performs with her fiddling and explosive step-dancing.

“The music is orchestrated very tastefully,” said MacMaster. “It’s very rhythmic and upbeat, lively and danceable.”

Dancing is also a major part of MacMaster’s performances. In addition to her technical prowess on the violin, MacMaster is known for her step dancing. “Dancing is always part of our show in many different capacities, including some solo dances and dancing while playing the fiddle simultaneously,” commented MacMaster.

Christmas in Cape Breton is coming to Plymouth, something worthy of rejoicing.

Tickets for the concert are on sale now for $45, and $55 for Premier seats. For tickets and more information on concerts and the Flying Monkey Performance Center, visit FlyingMonkeyNH.com or call 536-2551.
