Mount Sunapee Resort opened for the 2013-2014 winter season on November 29 with top-to-bottom skiing and riding on the Main Mountain and South Peak. The Sunapee Express Quad and the Clipper Ship Quad operated. Over the weekend, the Sunbowl opened top-to-bottom, plus a hiking terrain park opened on lower Pipeline trail in the Bob Skinner’s 603 Terrain Park.
Thanks to 52 more high-efficiency snow guns, this was one of Mount Sunapee’s biggest opening weekends ever. More than 20% of the total acreage was open, with terrain for all abilities. All three quad chairlifts operated over the weekend.
Early season ticket prices are $48 for adults, $38 for young adults and seniors, and $33 for juniors and super seniors.
Mount Sunapee is offering a $39 Beginner Special from Saturday, December 7 through Friday, December 20. This package is available to first-time skiers and snowboarders ages four and over. The package includes a two-hour beginner lesson, rental equipment, and a lift ticket to the South Peak Learning Area. This special beginner package must be reserved and purchased in advance online or over the phone at 763-3564.
On Saturday and Sunday, December 14 and 15, Mount Sunapee will be hosting Demo Days with Bob Skinner’s Ski and Sport. Skiers and snowboarders will be able to try the newest skis and snowboards from seven ski manufacturers and four snowboard manufacturers.
In an effort to help stock the local food pantries for the holidays, Sunday, December 15 is the first of two Cares and Shares Days at Mount Sunapee. Each skier or rider who brings five non-perishable food items to the ticket window can ski or ride all day for only $35.
