Kenney Wins Republican Primary for Executive Council Seat

Faces Cryans in March 11 special election

According to the Associated Press, Joe Kenney defeated fellow Republicans Mark Aldrich and Christopher Boothby in the primary election on January 21 for the Executive Councilor’s seat left vacant by the death of Ray Burton.

Kenney received 3,622 votes, including 14 from Andover; Christopher Boothby received 2,622 votes, with 1 from Andover; and Mark Aldrich trailed the pack with 499 votes – nine from Andover.

Kenney will next face Democrat Michael Cryans (who garnered seven votes from Andover in his uncontested primary bid) on Tuesday, March 11, in the special election for the Executive Council seat. Voting will take place in Andover at AE/MS from 11 AM to 7 PM.
