The groundhog may have decided to sleep in, but folks were out enjoying the warming weather and the specials vendors had to mark the midwinter and Valentine’s Day.
Celebrating its seventh season, the Blazing Star Grange’s indoor winter market grew out of a need to supplement summer markets at a time when gardens are bare and local products might be difficult to find. Several vendors are also members of the Wilmot Farmers’ Market and have attracted many Wilmot, New London, and Andover patrons to Danbury on the first Saturday of each winter month.
Breakfast at the Bistro is a great chance to have a hearty breakfast and chat with friends. To celebrate Valentine’s Day, an elegant chocolate cake-by-the-piece disappeared long before noon and the featured Potato-Leek soup. But there were still plenty of goodies to take home to your sweetheart.
For the March market, a St. Patrick’s Day menu featuring market products will be listed, along with information about the crafters’ End of Winter White Sale, featuring specials, and big discounts on selected items. It’s a great chance to pick up those items you’ve had your eye on for many months!
Mark your calendar for Saturday, March 1, from 9 AM to 1 PM at the Blazing Star Grange Hall, on North Road, just at the intersection of Routes 4 and 104, in Danbury. For information, and to find out about the Freebie Demo program, call Donna at 768-5579.
