Margaret Rose (LaPlante) Paquette died at Lakes Region General Hospital on February 1, 2014, following a three-month fight against cancer.
Margaret was born on June 10, 1938, in East Andover, one of seven children of the late J. Benjamin and Dorothy (Hersey) LaPlante. Mrs. Paquette was a graduate of Franklin High School, attended Plymouth State College of the University of New Hampshire and the New Hampshire Vocational Technical College, Laconia. In addition to being a mother and homemaker, Mrs. Paquette worked at the Laconia Peoples’ Bank and the Nighswander, Lord, Martin PA of Laconia, from which she retired in 1997, after 18 years of service.
Mrs. Paquette was a long-time member of the Lakes Region General Hospital Auxiliary, and member and four-year past president of the Lakeport Woman’s Club. She served several terms as a trustee of the Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation.
Mrs. Paquette was a communicant of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, St. Andre Bessette Parish, of Laconia.
Family members include her husband of 56 years, F. Andre Paquette; a son, Jean-Pierre Paquette and his wife, Kelly, of New London; two daughters, Lisette McCarthy and her husband, Ron Parizo, of Tewksbury, Massachusetts, and Monique Scharlotte and her husband, David, of Concord.
She is also survived by three sisters, Helen Duchesne of Bristol, Irene Hoffmann and her husband, George, of Indianapolis, and Rita Norander and her husband, Robert, of East Andover; and seven grandchildren, Teagan and Tyler McCarthy, Benjamin and William Scharlotte, and Katherine, Elise, and Gabrielle Paquette; one great-granddaughter, and many members of the extended LaPlante and Paquette families.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, J. Benjamin LaPlante of Franklin; two sisters, Eleanor Kehoe of Norwich, New York and Janet Mayo of Cincinnati; and three grandchildren, Francis, Michelle, and Meghan McCarthy.
There were no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on February 14 at Sacred Heart Church of St. Andre Bessette Parish, 291 Union Avenue, Laconia. Following the Mass, there was a reception for family and friends at the Belknap Mill, 25 Beacon St. East, Laconia. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
