Rest of the Town Report: Andover Lions Club

Formed in November of 1954, the mission of the organization is to provide assistance to people in need, specifically those who are visually or hearing impaired. We sponsor projects that benefit the community and improve the lives of those citizens in need in Andover, Danbury, Salisbury, and Wilmot.

  • Eye care and hearing aids have been provided to hundreds of people
  • Scholarships, emergency funding, and the Andover Food Pantry
  • Operation Kidsight, screening children between the ages of one and six years old for amblyopia. Now testing children at the Imagination Inn, East Andover Village Preschool, and the Wilmot Community Center
  • Sight and hearing testing at the Andover and Danbury schools

Fundraising includes: calendar raffle sales, rose sales, basketball tournaments, Fourth of July pancake breakfast and food concession, and golf tournament. This year, we hope to organize an Oktoberfest with brats, beer, and a band.

The funds raised are spent on needs such as the Andover ball field; Spaulding Youth Center; Andover Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Girl Scouts; Andover Food Pantry; Children’s Halloween Party; Vision weekend, the Sight and Hearing Foundation, Brain Trauma, and camp for handicapped and underprivileged children.

We meet every second and fourth Monday at 6 PM at Naughty Nellies and welcome new members. Call 735-6140 or 768-3838.
