Wilmot Historical Society Hosts Lecture on One-Room Schoolhouses

Sunday, May 18, at 2 PM

Press release

The Wilmot Historical Society (WHS) will host a New Hampshire Humanities Council program about one-room schoolhouses presented by Steve Taylor at 2 PM on Sunday, May 18, at the historic Wilmot Town Hall in Wilmot Center.

Steve’s program will explore the lasting legacies of the one-room school era and how they echo today.

“In some respects, a smaller school is better than a larger one,” comments Fred Ogmundson, program director of WHS. “I went to a one-roomer myself, and my wife Mary Jane taught in one!”

Come learn more about this timely topic and enjoy the refreshments and the camaraderie of your neighbors. The Wilmot Town Hall is located next to the Wilmot Public Library (a former one-room schoolhouse) on North Wilmot Road off of Route 4A in Wilmot Center. Call Lindy Heim at 526 6376 for more information.
