Historical Society’s Oral History Project is Alive and Well

New volunteers seek people to interview

By Suzy Norris, Andover Historical Society

Here’s an update on what’s happening with the Andover Oral History Project begun in 1985 by Barbara Upton: It is alive and well!

Recently, Donna Blinn has joined forces with us. She is currently in the process of transcribing our considerable library of oral histories (a Herculean task) as well as tending to the technological aspects of the Oral History Project. Her facility with computer technology and her fascination with local history and genealogy are huge assets.

Bob Norander has generously volunteered his expertise in converting our taped oral histories (over 70 of them) to CD form with the potential to be future audio files for a future Andover Historical Society Web site where one could just go online and listen. That’s our dream!

In the meantime, if you want to listen to an interview, both town libraries have a catalog to the collection and copies of the interviews.

If you know someone you think might want to be interviewed, or if you are that person, please call Suzy Norris at 735-5369 or Donna Blinn at 401 474-3618.
