The Board started by going into non-public session. After the non-public session, the public School Board meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM.

Good News: Mike acknowledged and congratulated the Merrimack Valley High School High School Girls Basketball Team for their recent state championship victory. Erin Frost and Haley Adams are players on the team from the Andover School District.
Old Business
Middle School Sports: Mike met with Lorrie from the Merrimack Valley School Board (MVSB). The current policy will remain in effect, allowing for participation of Andover students in sports that do not cut players. Andover School District (ASD) parents who have made requests have been notified. An effort will be made to include ASD students if openings occur, and notices will be sent.
Michelle asked if a clear practice/policy has been established. Mike stated that the MVSB has not met since Andover’s March meeting and discussion. Consistent communication with parents will be important during this process.
Facilities Study: Direct mailings of requests for proposals will be sent out with returns to be submitted by April 15. A work session will be held on April 17 to review the submissions.
Bus Stop: Mike has been working with involved community members along with the Andover Selectmen, exploring options involving the turnaround factor of school buses utilizing private land for this purpose during runs. Mike will continue to pursue a resolution, consulting the state for legalities and safety considerations.
New Business
Calendar Waiver: Jane presented a proposal to end the 2013-14 school year on June 20. Students will have exceeded the number of hours required on this date. The Board passed unanimously a motion to request a waiver from the state to conclude the 2013-2014 school year for students on June 20, 2014.
Superintendent’s Report: Mike stated that the Superintendent Transition Plan is in process.
