The Kearsarge Klassic Dirt Road Century and Randonee (K2) on Saturday, September 6, is a mostly dirt loop in central New Hampshire. Three circuits are offered: a dirt road “century” (100-mile circuit) with almost 10,000 feet of climbing, an 86 mile circuit, and a 65 mile circuit. The century circuit traverses the towns of Bradford, Sutton, Warner, Webster, Andover, Danbury, Alexandria, Enfield, Springfield, Wilmot, and New London and includes some of the most scenic roads in New Hampshire.
Although the roads are well-maintained dirt roads (with a few exceptions), a cyclo-cross bike with tires of 28mm or greater width and spare tubes is strongly recommended.
The routes go by a number of properties protected by the Ausbon Sargent Land Preservation Trust (ASLPT). No prizes will be offered, and the event will not be a timed event. The event is a fundraiser for ASLPT, and all entry fees are given to ASLPT to preserve and protect land in this spectacularly beautiful part of New Hampshire.
The dirt road century is one of the hardest, most beautiful and most rewarding loops you will ever ride. The climbs will earn you spectacular and beautiful views of some of the most scenic parts of New Hampshire. The 86 mile circuit is also challenging, with 8,000 feet of climbing. The 65 mile circuit has less climbing, but still offers scenic viewpoints with twisty and challenging dirt roads. For more information, visit AusbonSargent.org/photo-gallery.
The registration fee for the event is $80 after June 1. The event is a fund raiser for ASLPT, and 100% of the entry fees go directly to ASLPT, a 501(c)(3) trust. Donations are tax deductible. When you sign up for the event, you are making a donation to support land preservation in New Hampshire. There is a 200 rider limit for the event. No exceptions will be made.
This bike event continues to be one of ASLPT’s best fundraising events of the year and provides a fun and exciting day for all participants. We collaborate with the New Hampshire Cycling Club in Concord to offer a number of scenic routes with varying degrees of difficulty, all beginning and ending at the New London Historical Society. Riders receive a homemade breakfast, lunch, and dinner (including a free beer at the end of the ride), as well as snacks at the rest stops along the routes.
Please share this with your family and friends and begin your “get in shape” routine.
Registration will be open until Thursday, September 4, and is always pre-registration only. No “day-of” registration will be accepted. Riders may register at AndoverBeacon.com/K2-2014.
