This weather map at noon on July 4 pretty much tells the story of the Fourth of July, 2014 in Andover. Instead of sweeping through from west to east as it normally would, this line of rain set up from Philadelphia to Maine and didn’t budge all day. The parade, the music, and the ceremonies on the Village Green were all cancelled; vendor turnout for the Flea Market was very sparse. The Andover Lions Club Pancake Breakfast, the libraries’ annual Book Sale, and the Firecracker 5K footrace all proceeded as planned. Fortunately, the storm cleared out by the next day, and the fireworks went off as scheduled on the evening of the fifth.
