Life in India in the 1960s

In East Andover's Bachelder Library, local novelist Betsy Woodman answers a question from the audience after a July 18 reading of selections from her three recent novels. Sponsored by the Library Trustees, the event celebrated the publication 10 days earlier of her latest work, Emeralds Included. The three novels form a trilogy focusing on the life of Jana Bibi, a retired Scottish woman living in India in the 1960s. Betsy lived for 10 years of her childhood in India. Her family has long had connections with the Ragged Mountain Fish and Game Club in Andover. Caption and photo: Larry Chase
