Candidate for County Commissioner: Bronwyn Asplund-Walsh

Town News - News - Candidate - County Commissioner - Asplund-WalshI am very proud and honored to have served Merrimack County as your Commissioner. During the past two years we have received the highest rating possible, a Standard and Poor’s 1+, for our Tax Anticipation Notes sale. Our long-term rating has been upgraded to AA.

Not only am I your current Merrimack County Commissioner, I have recently been elected as President of the New Hampshire Association of Counties. As President of NHAC, I am a voting member of the National Association of Counties. This puts Merrimack County in the driver’s seat regarding important County issues. Merrimack County has over 800 full- and part-time employees and a budget of over $80 million.

The State of New Hampshire has ten counties. We are responsible for the County Nursing Home, Department of Corrections, Registry of Deeds, County Prosecutor, and Sheriff’s Department. Important issues that we will be facing in the next two years are the renovation of the old county corrections facility (Edna McKenna), and what is happening with Managed Care Rates, which directly affects our Nursing Home and Department of Corrections.
