Come rock and roll to ’50s and ’60s music.
The Blazing Star Grange Sock Hop in June was such a success that Carl Hultberg is setting up his turntables again and bringing his huge collection of 45s to spin some classic rock tunes at the Blazing Star Grange Hall on Saturday, November 1, in Danbury from 7 to 10 PM. Admission is a suggested donation of $5.
Carl brings several large plastic bins of 45s that he has salvaged from the Danbury Transfer Station and gleefully asks people to pick their favorite tunes for him to play on his vintage equipment. Everyone is invited to pore through the bins and take home records that tickle their fancy.
Hultberg is Danbury’s renowned recycling expert, poet, and musician, who has a vast background in jazz. His recently published book, Rudi and Me, is a biographical story of his grandfather, jazz critic Rudi Blesh.
So, if you want to have fun and get plenty of exercise, be sure to mark your calendar for Saturday, November 1. Bring your friends and meet your neighbors at the fall Blazing Star Grange Sock Hop. Refreshments will be available.
