Members present: Tom Frantz, Ellie George, Howard George, Alan Hanscom, Brian Reynolds, and Heidi Murphy.

Also attending: John Hanscom, Sue Norris, and Jen Hauser.

Treasurer’s Report: Alan Hanscom said that a bill for mowing was paid to Howard George.  All bills are paid, and accounts are up to date.

Programs

Soccer: Heidi Murphy discussed the soccer program, which had 61 children sign up for the three teams: a fifth- and sixth-grade boys team, a fifth- and sixth-grade girls team, and a co-ed third- and fourth-grade team. Each team has played two games thus far.

Heidi also mentioned that she had been contacted about whether the field could be used when it is not being used by the Recreation Committee program, and the Committee agreed that if the field is open, then it would be fine for non-Recreation Committee use.

Basketball: Emily Furtkamp said she would be Director of the basketball program again this year and would attend October’s meeting.

Skiing: Sue Norris and Jen Hauser, who have taken over the ski program from Ellie George, discussed this winter’s upcoming program, including the chaperone policy; background checks; and plans to meet with Principal Slayton and the staff at Ragged Mountain to discuss changes to this year’s program. Sign-ups for skiing are scheduled for October 23 at Math Night at AE/MS.

Other Business

Recreation Building: Howard George said that he and Lloyd Perreault put up the box on the pole, and electricity has been hooked up. Water is the next step, and then inside wiring. No additional updates were available, but the Recreation Committee wants to discuss these next steps in more detail at the next meeting.

Fields and Maintenance: Mowing has been done by George Sports Irrigation, which submitted the low bid for the maintenance contract.

New Members: Tom Frantz asked Sue Norris and Jen Hauser if they would be willing to become new members of the Recreation Committee. They agreed, and after a short discussion, the Recreation Committee members voted unanimously to approve them as new Recreation Committee members.
