The Andover Fish and Game Club (AF&G) held its annual Turkey Raffle on the evening of November , 7 at the East Andover Clubhouse. The event was a great success and brought in a larger crowd than usual. Everyone had an excellent time.
With every spin of the roulette-like wheel, a lucky participant won one of a variety of items, including turkeys, hams, and chickens. Carlos Ayala won the door prize, which included a turkey and all the fixings for a Thanksgiving dinner. Dave Henderson won the 50/50 raffle, and Mario Ratzki won the Browning shotgun that was raffled.
Thank you to all the Club members and their families and friends who helped on this event. Thank you, also, to everyone who came out to enjoy the raffle, which is one of AF&G’s annual fundraisers. The funds go toward putting on the Club’s two Kids’ Fishing Derby’s and to send kids to the Barry Conservation Camp.
The AF&G has honored Rich Gross and Dave Henderson, both Andover residents, with plaques of recognition for their “years of dedicated service to the Andover Fish and Game Club.” Rich has been a member for over 30 years and serves on the Board of Directors. He takes care of the Club’s monthly newsletters and event posters, and runs the two Kids’ Fishing Derby’s.
Dave has been a member of the AF&G for over 20 years and serves on the Building Committee. (In fact, after receiving his plaque, Dave was asked to build a shelf in the Clubhouse for the plaque to sit upon. He says with a laugh that he is working on the design.) Besides their regular duties, Rich and Dave are always available to pitch in when the AF&G needs help on activities.
Plaques read:
“In appreciation for your years of dedicated service to the Andover Fish and Game Club, we thank you!”
