AE/MS Writing Assignment: Why Should This Turkey be Spared?

Fourth graders Jacob Dashnaw, Andrew Croteau, Ethan Fecteau, Elias Davis, Ani McIntyre, and Camryn Perkins tackled a Thanksgiving "Staying Alive" writing assignment with great creativity. A few of their reasons why their turkey should be spared were: “My meat is dry and dusty because I am old … I ate some spoiled grain and have worms in my stomach … I was bitten by a wolf and now have rabies … I am very boney … I have a bad wing … I have a huge family … I have a really bad attitude … I have a bad cold and am all skin and bones …” and finally, “Please don't eat me, I will make a terrible Thanksgiving bird!” Photo: Jane Slayton
