With Christmas just around the corner, New Hampshire Circle of Home and Family’s November program on Food Gifts gave us some great ideas for those folks on your Christmas list who have everything. What better than a nice homemade goody from your kitchen?
You can adjust your recipes to suit your friends’ dietary needs. You can make low calorie, gluten free, sugar free, and low salt goodies. Mixes in a jar provide a nice meal or dessert that can be used by adding a few more ingredients.
How about some homemade candy, cake, or bread? Then there are jams, pickles, and relishes.
Packaging is just as important as the cooking. A nice jar for mixes, jams, and jellies. A clear egg carton works great for homemade truffles. A basket with a nice cloth for breads, cookies, or muffins. A nice bottle for herb vinegars.
Items can be wrapped in a pretty dishtowel. Different types of popcorn look nice in clear plastic bags with a pretty bow. Make up a snack basket for a TV Night.
Your friends and family will enjoy a food treat, especially at this busy time of year when cooking is just one more item on the to-do list.
Our programs for 2015 are You Light Up My life, Color Me Beautiful, A Clean Sweep, Once Upon A Time, Courtesy and Manners, and Sweden.
We meet the third Monday of the month. If you would like more information or are interested in attending a meeting, call 735-5493.
